Resin Transfer Moulding – RTM

PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES FOR COMPOSITES

RTM

Resin Transfer Molding method is used moderately in the production of composite materials.

RTM is a closed molding method in which pre-formed reinforcement materials are placed between two-sided closed molds. The resin is pumped under pressure through the injection channels into the mold.

Sandwich construction intermediate materials, mechanical fittings and metal fasteners such as nuts and bolts can be embedded into the body during molding.

Key advantages;

  • Many parts could be molded per hour, depending on the process and design conditions
  •  Both surfaces of molded parts are smooth.
  •  Filling systems reduce costs and add performance features such as non-flammability and smoke-free properties, better surface appearance and higher break resistance.
